database project. It is indirectly useful in preparing for the final
exam, since it reviews RGB and
graphics concepts in the context of Access and the imgCategory.PictureData
and imgDrama.PictureData issues. It includes some VBA code for the
Form_Current() event procedure for your Movie browsing form.
- Here are 10 practice questions for
Access
and database concepts. You should also study Lessons 1, 2 and 3 and the
old Access slide shows available from our 022 web site.
-

You have the concept of Combo Boxes and making them be coordinated with a
recordset, just like we did for the Movie name. Why was the
Form_Current() event code needed to coordinate it, as well as the
cboMovieName_AfterUpdate() event that the wizard created? See pages
50 to 58.
- Intelligent command buttons. Creating command buttons with the Code
Builder Wizard. Using the RecordsetClone property of a recordset. Why
you would use it. How it works. How it tells you whether you are on the
1st or the last record, or if there aren't any records, etc.
- The Picture property and the PictureData property of an Image control.
The lessons of imgCategory, imgComedy, imgDrama and imgAction image
controls. How the Form_Current() event coordinates showing the graphic
for Action or Comedy or Drama, according to the value of the database
field named Category from the database Table named Stars.
- Everything we have learned about Queries in the last project and in
previous handouts.
- There will not be any Excel on the final exam.
- There will be the essentials of graphics and Red, Green, Blue concepts
on the final exam. Some highlights from Paint and PhotoShop will be
included, but only the most basic, often mentioned or demonstrated
features about graphics whether Drawing programs like when we did
the Microsoft Office Drawing toolbar stuff or Paint/Bitmapped/pixel
oriented graphics when we did customizing of toolbars, or did Paint or
PaintBrush and saved as 24 bit color, 8 bit color, 4 bit color, or
monochrome (1 bit color). We did Gradients and animated a GIF series of
slides using PhotoShop too. We did a Filter, Gaussian Blur and you saw
that there was such a thing as Layers in PhotoShop.
