1. What are live filters? They are special effects you can apply to vector objects, bitmap images and text in Fireworks to enhance the appearance of the object. My favorites are Drop Shadows and Bevels and Glows. Embossing is also a nice effect. Another is Blur. Recall we used the Photoshop Gaussian Blur filter to make a custom button. 2. Where can I learn more about live filters? The link to Fireworks help on the web is provided on the previous page. Help menu > Fireworks Help + Using Live Filters works if you have access to Fireworks. 3. What are the commands we did to create the Fireworks disjoint rollover swap image application? Here are a few of them. Edit menu > Insert > New Button Edit menu > Insert > Rectangular Slice was used with a graphic selected to place a slice around it so it could be part of a swap image process. File menu > Import was used to import the UNI.jpg and ISU.jpg and UI.jpg graphic files, after they were cropped using Photoshop from larger graphics found at the web sites. Window menu > Frames was needed so that we could add new frames in Fireworks. Each of the JPEG files had to be in its own Frame. UNI.jpg in Frame 2 ISU.jpg in Frame 3 UI.jpg in Frame 4 The three buttons are all in Frame 1.
