Hi 023 students, *********************************************************************** * POSTLAB ASSIGNMENT - DO it SOONer, but you have till Thu, 04/17 * *********************************************************************** Your assignment for the postlab to today's class is to give feedback on what you learned about the Photoshop graphics software and whether you liked it or not. Also, feel free to tell me if you learned anything new or not. Feel free to just do this in an email note anytime. A couple paragraphs is enough. - I'll have you put together a web page and an animation that uses some of the Photoshop produced graphics to review some of the material on networks or batch files or microcomputer hardware or software related to the content of the class. But its probably good that we do something that also increases your skill with application software and with web page techniques too. *********************************************************************** * End of POSTLAB assignment * *********************************************************************** ----------------------------------------------------------------------- Your textbook assignment is due next Friday in class. Here it is: ----------------------------------------------------------------------- The Network Security chapter is chapter 15 of the textbook. The review questions from the end of that chapter are due on Friday, April 18th. I believe that chapter starts of page 757 and the questions begin on page 797, but this is just a guess, since chapter 15 is somehow missing from my CD-ROM with the textbook on it. ----------------------------------------------------------------------- End of textbook assignment given at start of class on April 11th. ----------------------------------------------------------------------- There is a good chance we will have a couple classes in CEEE before the semester is over. CEEE is the Center for Energy and Environmental Education. It is a strange looking building on the south east edge of campus right by the walking route from campus to Married Student Housing and ROTH dorms. --------------------------------------------------------------------- The UNI computer science department has two lab/classrooms in that building, and they are separated from the rest of the campus network by a firewall. Thus we can do experiments and use software not allowed out in the public areas, and also not worry about "breaking" the network in that classroom briefly, IF we are using that lab. We MIGHT use it. --------------------------------------------------------------------- IF we get to use that lab/classroom, I will let you know ahead of time in Wright 105 (or Wright 112 next Friday). It is a very big IF. I would also let you know by email and the class web page. ====================================================================== Those who have had 810:022 before, probably remembered or already knew alot of the Photoshop stuff, and for sure the Alt+Printscreen and Printscreen and Windows clipboard ideas. 810:022 is Microcomputer Applications and Systems Integration, and is offered every fall semester. If you take Visual Basic and that class, after finishing 023 successfully this spring, you get a certification in microcomputer applications from the computer science department to frame, see on your transcript, and put on your resume. So I hope to see some of you next fall in the 022 class or Visual Basic class, if you decide to pursue that certification. See the URL http://www.cns.uni.edu/~jacobson/cert.html to learn more about it. 810:088 also counts toward it, but most students take 021, 022, 023 and 030 to earn the credentials. Have a great weekend. Mark
