Subject: Online Quiz#1, Chapter one...

Hi 023 (Microcomputer Systems) students,

   Quiz number one is now available and wil be available through 
Monday, January 29th.  The lab usually closes at 10 p.m. on Monday through 
Thursday in Wright Hall.

   Quiz 1 is over chapter one of your textbook.   There are 29 questions.

   I will hand out your user id (its your COBRA/VIPER/ICEMAN ACAD id)
and your password (randomly generated) on Friday in class.  I will also
briefly demonstrate the online testing software, for those of you who
have never used it before.  If you forget your Microcomputer Systems
Testing PASSWORD, I have those and can look it up or reset it for you.

Forgot your password or lost it:

Just see me or send me email and I can get back to you with the password,
and the user id (again, that is easy, its your UNI COBRA user id,
published almost everywhere, including the UNI phonebook).

   The quiz must be taken by Monday, January 10th when the lab closes.

   The quiz is open book, open notes, but you cannot take it with a friend
in the class.

   If something goes wrong and the computer crashes or you do not exit
the quiz software normally, your account will be locked up.  Notify me
and I will unlock it for your id.  
 
   From time to time students have the system crash or start a quiz and
then get kicked out of the lab.  If this happens, you might receive a
score of 0 on the quiz.  I can also delete the unfinished quiz result,
so you are eligible to take the quiz again.

   On Friday, we will start to talk about the textbook and chapter one
readings, and take a break from networks for at least part of the class.
