Hi 061 Java 9 MWF and 10 MWF students, Since we missed a class on Labor Day holiday that Mark Fienup's T Th class did not have to miss, we are 50 minutes behind that class, that section 03 class. Because Part B of this program is quite challenging, but will seem much less so once you finish getting part A working fine, the following will be the best possible solution I could come up with that is fair to both the students that have been working hard on this since last Friday, and succeeded or probably will succeed in getting it all working by Friday at class time, and to the students who started later, or started last Friday or last weekend, but are still having trouble with it anyway. The Laundry Project is worth 20 points, twice as much as each of your first two programs were worth. Part A is worth 10 points. The onMouseClick() version. Part B is worth 10 points. The onMouseDrag(), onMousePress() and onMouseRelease() version, with the correct counters and the incorrect counters. Correct 12 Incorrect 4 Turn in both part A and part B on Friday by class time and the program is worth a maximum of 10 + 10 or 20 points. Turn in part A by class time on Friday and receive up to 10 points on part A. Turn in part A by 5 p.m. on Friday (under my office door) and receive a 1 point penalty, which means you can still score 9 out of a possible 10 on part A. Turn in part A after 5 p.m. Friday and receive a 2 point penalty if its in by class time on Monday. Turn it in after your class time on Monday, and receive a 3 point penalty, or a maximum score of 7 out of 10. PART B deadlines and penalties. B by classtime on Friday is 10 points possible. B by Friday at 5 p.m. is 9 points. Note you have to provide a 2nd diskette yourself, if you turn in part A earlier. I will have some extra manilla folders with me Friday, if you need one, plus will scotch tape a couple on my office door. B by classtime, start of your class on Monday, is 8 points possible, or a 2 point penalty. B by Tuesday at 5 p.m. under my office door, maximum of 7 points, or a 3 point penalty. Tuesday at 5 p.m. is the final deadline for everything, so turn in your best effort on part A and part B by then. ---------------- I expect most of you will get it all working, if you work at it and study very actively the resources from lectures and email and the web page and the handouts, and take advantage of me and PJ and Daniel when you get stuck too. If you turn in both part A and part B on the last day, i.e. by 5 p.m. on Tuesday, you could still score 70% or 14 points out of 20 points on the entire project. The important thing is to learn as much as possible from this project, which is why the penalty is not too significant, so use the extra time if you need it and use the two extra lectures insights you get on Friday and Monday from the Wright 105 Java classroom sessions.
