Chapter 03: Explorations written assignment

Part 1: Two pages (one sheet front and back) to turn in and for group discussion in class.
Due date: Monday, March 4th in class

  1. Read Chapter 03: Explorations from Turtles, Termites, and Traffic Jams.

  2. Choose one of the sections to study in depth, rereading it and exploring the NetLogo models in the model library that relate to it. Take extensive notes on it. Carefully read and experiment with the NetLogo model or models from the Netlogo models library that illustrate or relate to the reading.

  3. Earth Science category has the Fire model. Biology category has Slime, Termites, Ants, and Ant Lines. Social Science category has Traffic Basic and Traffic Grid.

  4. Recursive Trees you could look under Mathematics category and in Fractals. Perspective Demos category also has Ants, Flocking, and Termites. If you choose Turles and Frogs or if you choose Turtle Ecology you can connect up to whatever you see a connection to from any of the models we have studied or you can find in File menu > Models Library.

    5. For any and all of the NetLogo models you play with and study in conjunction with the reading of chapter 03 and your chosen section of chapter 03, be sure to carefully review and use the INFORMATION tab: WHAT IS IT? ... HOW IT WORKS; HOW TO USE IT; THINGS TO TRY;

  5. ASSIGNMENT DUE 03/04/2012 Monday class: Turn in at least one sheet of paper, covered front and back with your rewritten notes, quotes, drawings, questions, diagrams, insights, confusions and engagement with your chosen section of chapter 03: Explorations.
