Tuesday April 7th


  1. Monte Carlo resources and examples.

  2. More Monte Carlo dart tossing resources.

  3. ASSIGNMENT: Monte Carlo homework... Due TODAY - on Tuesday, April 7th.
    Accepted on Thursday, April 9th because of being sick last Thursday and having no class.

  4. NEW HOMEWORK due on next Tuesday, April 14th: The Monte Carlo Two Circles, Six Questions was handed out today.

Thursday, April 9th


  1. GROUP EXERCISE: Monte Carlo 7 questions (in living color): Inner Circle, Outer Circle, Leaves, Cows, Stars...
    Note: Ignore questions 7, 8 and 9 as they are repeats of 1, 2 and 3.
    Renumber question #10 to be question #7. That was the 7th question for the 7th group on April 9th.
    There were 7 groups and 7 questions.

    SEVEN SOLUTIONS: Monte Carlo group exercise presentations: The Group Answers/Solutions are scanned in and annotated with my additional notes.
    If you get stuck on the April 14th homework, the group exercise solutions are very helpful to study, review and understand.

  2. HOMEWORK due on Tuesday, April 14th: The Monte Carlo Two Circles, Six Questions was handed out on both Tuesday, April 7th and again on Thursday, April 9th.

    There are only 100 turtles. The counts are 12 plants, 36 stars, 26 cows and 26 cars.
    The turtle world has an area of 89 times 33 or 2937 units, i.e. 2,937 patches.

    Here are several other simulation runs of the same model:

    1. With 0 turtles, i.e. not yet run.
    2. With 100 turtles...
    3. With 500 turtles...
    4. With 10000 turtles...
    5. Model Settings as in number of rows and number of columns.
