Hi 021 students, We will have a hands-on class in Wright 112 lab on Friday, so go there instead of going to the ITT 27/28 classroom. Wright 112 lab on Friday 1/12. I have posted links to a summary of today's lecture, as well as the handout from today about binary. Do not worry if you do not understand the binary yet, as we will do a lab from the textbook's CD-ROM (BookOnCD) that explains it all very nicely after you get back from the MLK holiday. Here is a t-shirt logo you may have seen before. "There are 10 types of people in the world, those who understand binary, and those who don't." Of course, in binary base two, we count 0 0 1 1 10 2 <----- 10 = 2 11 3 2 10 100 4 101 5 110 6 111 7 1000 8 10 = 2 2 10 is to be read as 10 in base two is equal to 2 in base ten, or you could say binary 10 is equal to decimal 2. --------- --------- See you on Friday, January 1100th in the Wright 1110000 lab. Note; Binary 1100 = Decimal 12 so January 1100 = January 12 2 10 Binary 1110000 = Decimal 112, so WRT 112 = WRT 1110000 10 2 "There are 10 types of people in the world, those who understand binary, and those who don't." You will very soon be among the former, if you aren't already! Mark
