Flash and embedded video - Tuesday, Nov 16th, 2010 - see LI #1

11/18/Thursday - Final Project ideas and options

Final project due on or anytime before Friday at end of finals week

  1. Nested Flash video in the Flash SWF file timeline, aka snowfalling in the woods. Invisible buttons in Flash. Special effects from After Effects.

A <P> paragraph tag above here makes the break. Snow from AE to Flash includes very advanced invisible button, which allows for many different special effects choices.

  2. Tutorial is both AE and Flash - ignore the AE - Snow example and tutorial - works for Flash CS 5 just fine.

  3. From JPG or GIF into Photoshop to separate out into separate layers for animation or graphics components for Flash or After Effects or buttons. JPG and PSD Snorg Tees examples show the before and the after.

VIP: Tutorial on using Photoshop to extract portions of an image out into separate layers. See <LI> List Item item number 1 only from the <OL> which has a total of 6 <LI>'s in the Ordered List. Be sure to see my additions and corrections as well.

  4. Creating a VBA macro application to allow users of your Excel workbook to experiment with the Birthday simulation problem. You can study the published powerpoint presentation for the code. You must include a feature to record the history of the runs. You must be able to clear the history too. Show the mm/dd of the duplicated birthday should be an option too. Finally, not just 23 birthdays. The user gets to specify 10 or 20 or 23 or 50 or 60 or whatever size group of persons you want to simulate.
  5. Disjoint rollovers with Fireworks is also an option.
  6. The Flash textbook: Go through a chapter or two of the book doing the exercises. Keep a notebook/diary of what you learn. Develop a few concepts from your experience of reading and doing that chapter of the Flash book. Create a Flash application that adapts those techniques your learned and the chapter exercises you tried out to your own concept. I will show you here soon what I mean by doing this myself and scanning in the notes, showing the book example, and then showing my adaptation of the chapter to something else.
  7. Create a Dreamweaver web site that is a tutorial on how to do something that is related to what we have covered in class. Lots of screen snapshots, perhaps enhanced with Photoshop, etc.
