Simulating Gravity and Bouncing Ball with After Effects

Trigonometry and Javascript Expressions Language

  1. Trigonometry: SOH CAH TOA Sine Cosine Tangent and some basic trigonometry.

  2. Creating a trail of images using one single line of AE Expressions code and duplicating that layer many times. We did this in class.

  3. Creative Cow After Effects tutorial: Gravity In After Effects - the Bouncing Ball Effect by Jesse Toula. Waves have Amplitude, Frequency, and Decay. What is Exponential Growth? What is Exponenial Decay? How is the PICK WHIP used?

  4. PDF - The FABULOUS FOURTEEN HOMEWORK questions on Gravity Animation and the Bouncing Ball tutorial by Jesse Toula: Gravity in After Effects video tutorial fourteen HW questions.

Note: These 14 are HW questions for the LAC class CS 1025 Computational Modeling and Simulation. Great study guide for the video tutorial 1st 12 minutes for CS 2880 class, so use them to study the video and improve your VE, A, and MG skills.

  5. Basics and overview: After Effects Expressions, PICK WHIP, Write-On and Beam effects. We did the WRITE-ON effect during week 2 or 3 and again on November 7th.

  6. Dancing Buildings, Audio Amplitude, Null Layers and more on GRAVITY and BOUNCING BALLS (these are previous in-class handouts).

  7. Masks and Audio Amplitude layer: Dancing Campanile, UNI Fight Song, invisible button added in Flash. Flash ActionScript 3.0 code to control the effects.

MP3 - fight.mp3 : UNI Fight Song played by pep band or marching band.

  8. Using Flash and After Effects together: Campanile tutorial and example. Includes video tutorial and demonstration of how to make the Flash button to make the application interactive. The video is about 19 minutes long.
