Date: Mon, 01 Feb 2010 16:03:06 -0600 (CST) From: Mark Jacobson To: 810-088-12-spring@uni.edu Subject: Quiz two on Wednesday, Review of today's class available... Hello VE, A, and MG students, Here is a review of today's class, which mainly got into chapter 3 of the textbook and some concepts and techniques involving Layers. Lesson 3: Layer Control http://www.cs.uni.edu/~jacobson/AE/04/February1stReview.pdf Reminder that the quiz one is on Wednesday and almost every Wednesday for the rest of the semester there will be a 10 minute quiz at the end of class. Since the first project is due on Friday, involving the pineapple animation and including some animated text (using APSRO animation or using the animation preset text effects), the main topics for quiz one will be: 1. the pineapple assignment and all the concepts and skills it involves, so watch the two videos. http://www.cs.uni.edu/~jacobson/AE/weeks1thru5.html I will watch those videos again myself and prepare many or most of the quiz questions from material available in those videos. Of course, Lesson 1 and Lesson 2 material from the book such as Ease In and Ease Out and Easy Ease and so on is covered in those videos. 2. Exercise 1: Export Text Animation as Flash SWF ---------------------------------------------- Pages 67, 68, and 69 (pages 3, 4 and 5 of the PDF) from the VERTIGO day. This in ONLY the Adobe After Effects portion and pages. The AFTER EFFECTS, as you recall, used the Effects & Presets tab to get to the Animation Presets folder, which had a Text folder, which had an Animate In folder, which had a CENTER SPIRAL choice for the text effect. IGNORE the EXPORT text animation. IGNORE the FLASH. FOCUS ON HOW TO CREATE THE TEXT ANIMATION IN AFTER EFFECTS. Do NOT worry at all about any of the Adobe Flash portion of that PDF. You will get more Flash experience later this semester. http://www.uni.edu/jacobson/AE/eyeball.html http://www.focalpress.com/uploadedFiles/Books/Book_Media/Animation_and_3D/Exporting%20SWF%20Files.pdf URL's as long as the one for the above PDF should be illegal on the internet! If you have trouble, remember that the eyeball.html page has a LINK to the same PDF URL. 3. Today's material on [ and ] and Alt+[ and Alt+] and B and N and on I and O should be reviewed, as it is fair game for the quiz. Even if you missed class, the following review page is enough for you to work through to catch up on Layer Control. http://www.cs.uni.edu/~jacobson/AE/04/February1stReview.pdf We will do some sunny.uni.edu stuff on Wednesday and some Flash, so those of you who are adventurous can TRY (not necessarily succeed this week) to upload your After Effects pineapple assignment to your sunny.uni.edu account, so it can be shared over the web. The CCC (Computer Consulting Center) on the bottom floor of ITTC is where you need to go if you forgot your sunny.uni.edu password. We'll try to briefly do some sunny.uni.edu and SSH Secure Shell on Wednesday, if time permits. Time may NOT permit, since we have to render out After Effects composition as FLV (FLash Video) and then create a Flash application to play that FLV FLash Video and then PUBLISH that Flash application and upload 3 files to your sunny.uni.edu account: 1. The FLV file (FLash Video version of your AE COMP). 2. The SWF file that Flash produces. 3. THe HTML file that Flash produces when you PUBLISH. Again, for this first assignment, you do NOT have to upload it to sunny.uni.edu and can just send an attachment of the aep AE project file to my email address at jacobson@cs.uni.edu and I can grade it that way. I do NOT need the pineapple PSD file (the PhotoShop Document file). --- - - - Just the .aep file, which contains the PINEAPPLE COMP. I will save it to the same folder that I have the pineapple.psd FOOTAGE in and can see if it works fine there. jacobson@cs.uni.edu is the email address.... CS is all you have to remember to add! Mark Think about these NOW, so you are able to more quickly come up to speed on publishing and uploading AFTER EFFECTS projects to sunny.uni.edu as FLV Flash Video. FLV, SWF and HTML. 1. The FLV file (FLash Video version of your AE COMP). 2. The SWF file that Flash produces. 3. The HTML file that Flash produces when you PUBLISH. FLV, SWF and HTML. FLV, SWF and HTML. FLV, SWF and HTML. What software package creates the SWF? What software package creates the HTML? What software package creates the FLV? You will know the answers to those questions soon, but think about the 3 questions NOW!
