Hi VB students, Visual Basic .NET will be installed on all of the Wright 112 lab machines, except for the two corner machines in the back row of the lab. The system administrator will be doing this tonight or tommorrow. There is not any VB assignment due until the last day of classes, and the assignment will be given out on Wednesday in class. However, the class web site has the Movies2002.mdb database for you to download if you want to start working with things before Wednesday's class. Where is Visual Basic 6.0 after tommorrow? Only on two machines in Wright 112 lab, in the back row, in the corners, and on the 5 machines closest to the door, against the wall, in the Wright 339 computer lab on the top floor. We will have one hands-on class sometime in the near future in the Wright 112 lab where I give you all a taste of VB .NET so you can see how it looks and feels compared to Visual Basic 6.0. Visual Basic .NET is NOT as easy or straightforward at all, especially for beginners, but it will be a hands-on projected class where I walk you through some examples. Microsoft should have their head examined for taking away the Visual BASIC (Beginners All-Purpose Symbolic Instruction Code)! - - - - - BASIC was first developed in 1964 to teach beginners about programming. There is NOTHING for Beginners or BASIC about Visual BASIC .NET. - - With 13 weeks experience, you will be fine seeing how it works and differs, however. See you Wednesday! Mark
