Hello Flash students, Please read this ENTIRE MESSAGE. I am sorry about the problems. I assume that most lab monitors on the UNI campus can help you use UNI email to attach your .FLA flash project file and send it to me! :-) I should have done it this way from the start - send me the attachment when you are done and SKIP THE UPLOAD it to sunny.uni.edu part. We will do that on Friday's as needed when you have your assignment with you on a flash drive or attached to your own email or whatever. Its too difficult, there are too many different platforms around campus with software that isn't as easy as SSH Secure Shell and apparently the lab monitors often are not trained for what would seem is the simplest, most basic thing they SHOULD be able to help any student with, FILE TRANSFERS! :-( It does not help that most of the labs around campus do NOT have SSH Secure Shell and only have FileZilla, which I often have trouble getting to work right and remembering all the settings you need to make. And I am fairly experienced at these computer related matters! :-) Note: If you have already gotten your .swf and .html files uploaded to sunny.uni.edu and see your name on the http://www.cs.uni.edu/~jacobson/flash/a/a1.html page, you obviously do NOT need to send me your .fla file. Also, do NOT send me the .fla and the .swf file. It will be easier for me to just deal with ONE ATTACHMENT in the email, and then use my Flash software to PUBLISH the exciting animated result for you! :-) Again, please read this ENTIRE MESSAGE. I am sorry about the problems. I will download it to my PC and Publish the .swf and .html and then upload it to the class web site. We will skip the uploads to sunny.uni.edu for now. It is too much trouble, and as you read above and can read below, its apparent that the lab monitors on campus don't even necessarily know how to use FileZilla, so I certainly don't expect you to figure that out. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------- Forwarded message ---------- Date: Tue, 5 Feb 2008 09:43:16 -0600 (CST) From: Mark Jacobson To: BilboBaggins@uni.edu Subject: Re: Need help with Flash or the upload thing... Hi Bilbo, Don't worry about it at all. I will figure out a different way to collect the homework, maybe by doing this file attachment and sending me the .FLA file as an attachment. I can also just have students bring their work to the Friday hands-on classes whenever I want you to upload them to sunny.uni.edu. I may also look into WebCT, which I have heard makes it easy for UNI students to submit their homeworks for a class. Its absurd that the lab monitors getting paid to work in computer labs don't know how to help with FileZilla! It is also absurd that the SCC (Student Computer Centers) have PuTTY and have FileZilla and DO NOT HAVE SSH Secure Shell! Sorry about the problems. I did not forsee this at all and don't want to waste any more precious class time with the file transfer and upload issues when we need to be learning FLASH! :-) Mark On Tue, 5 Feb 2008 BilboBaggins@uni.edu wrote: > here it is, i tried asking different people last night and this morning in > the computer lab and they had no idea what i was talking about.
