Graduate Student Wright 339 TA Help Office Hours

 

      
The Computer Science Department has 339 WRT staffed
    with graduate assistants to help students with programming 
    classes and other CS classes:

    Flash students:  If you need help with uploading your Flash .swf
                     and .html files to the sunny.uni.edu web server,
                     you can come to me for help anytime.  I prefer 
                     that you let me know ahead of time, so I know you 
                     are coming at a certain specific time, otherwise
                     I may not be there or I may be busy helping 
                     someone else.

        If you just need help with uploading files to sunny.uni.edu
        and want to do it in Wright Hall using FileZilla, the TAs
        will be able to help you, if:

           You remembered to PUBLISH your .fla project file so the
                                          .swf and the 
                                          .html file actually get
                                                     created and are
                                                     saved on your 
                                                     stick or Zip disk.

           The URL is http://www.uni.edu/yourUserID/yourFlashAssign.html

                after you have uploaded it to your sunny.uni.edu account.

           Show this page to the TA, if needed.  All they need to know 
              to help you is the sunny.uni.edu and the URL given above.

           FileZilla is not as easy as ssh secure shell file transfer.

           You should not have to do PuTTy at all, and that is not
              as easy or convenient as ssh secure shell login to sunny.

When a TA is on duty he will
  1. EITHER be seated in Wright 337 - the office whose door opens onto Wright 339, OR

  2. ***   he may out of sight and be working inside the cubicle office over in the corner of the Wright 339 office, OR

  3. ***   he may be working in the Wright 339 lab itself. 

    *** In these last two cases, he should have a sign indicating he is the TA on duty so you know who he is or where to find him. ***

FLASH help - see or email me:
The TAs cannot help you with FLASH software. We do not even have FLASH software in the Wright 339 lab, nor would most of them have any experience with it. File transfers to sunny.uni.edu of your .swf and .html files should be simple for them, even with the confusing FileZilla software.

SSH in Wright:
The ssh software we use in the Studio IT laptop labs and that you perhaps downloaded for your home computer or laptop will be available in Wright Hall computer labs starting this summer.

Downloading SSH
If you still have not downloaded it for your machine, here is the link to www.uni.edu/its/us/software/. Just go to Row 12, the Secure Telnet row and use SSH Secure Shell link to download and install it. Ignore the PuTTY (Supported) choice. It is twice as difficult and half as powerful as SSH Secure Shell.
