Wings of Desire, Rainer Marie Rilke, City of Angels

  1. Official Wings of Desire and Wim Wenders web site.

  2. Nice presentation of a Rilke poem of special relevance to UNI Panthers.

  3. Wings of Desire.

  4. City of Angels song. Sarah McLachlan singing, angel wings lifting, carrying souls soaring heavenward in September of 2001. This is the 6th song on the soundtrack to the movie City of Angels, which is a remake of the 1980s German film, Wings of Desire.

There is a Whitman poetic segment that would be useful here. Lifting from the earth, the earth's gravity, the roller earth, the earth is a song, the earth hugs us, we are in the arms of the earth. Gravity, Rocky Mountains....

  5. Not the Sarah McLachlan song here, but a strange instrumental of the melody at the aol.com link. Nice graphics and some very nice animations. Getting slimed is a good thing, a blessing in disguise, if negative reinforcement of the setback is not allowed to reign supreme. Suki, sugohasamida, seeing every event as opportunity, gift. This is Tae Kwon Do and martial arts spirit.

  6. French Unofficial Sarah McLachlan site shows how nicely a gradient theme from a subtle red/orange color to a yellow/white color could be combined across separate graphic elements.

  7. Roger Ebert review of Wings of Desire courtesy of the Chicago Sun Times.

  8. Rilke poem featured in Wings of Desire movie. Rilke wrote about angels and the angelic in his poetry and essays. He would make the final four on many lists for the best poets in the world during the 20th century.
