Inside of that folder is a file called task1 (or task1.doc, ifyou have file extensions showing). When you open that file, choose to Enable Macros, when asked/warned about the Macros that the task1.doc Microsoft Word 97 document contains. The Macros enable you to time yourself on the word processing/formatting skills. The techniques we illustrated in class today were: 1. ctrl + Click Select the Sentence you control clicked. 2. Triple Click Select the paragraph you triple-clicked. 3. Double Click Select the word you double-clicked on. 4. Ctrl + End Move to the very end of the document. Ctrl + Home Move insertion point to the very beginning of the document. 5. Home Move to the beginning of the line. End Move insertion point to end of the line. 6. Ctrl + b Bold Ctrl + i Italics Ctrl + u Underline Note: You just have to be "touching" the word, to make it Bold, etc. 7. Selection bar tricks Ctrl + Click in Selection bar will select entire document. Click in selection bar Select that line.... Drag in selection bar Select that sequence of lines. Triple click in S.Bar Select entire document Double click in S.Bar Select that paragraph 8. Hold down the Shift key and click Select from wherever insertion point was to where the Shift + Click was done. 9. Format Painter button Like a clipboard for the selected formats. 10. Format menu, Paragraph command <---- The Alt, O, P command... - - Invoked by Alt key, followed by O, followed by P 11. Convert Text to Table command Part of the Tables menu 12. Hanging Indent Right Margin Left Margin <---- Format menu, Paragraph Space Before - - Space After <---- All part of the Alt, O, P command 13.
