Standard Equivalances for Conversions

Several times over the units on Python you will be asked to convert from one unit to another.  So that everyone ends up with equivalent answers, please use the following equivalencies.

Length

• 1 km = 1000 m
• 1 m = 100 cm
• 1 inch = 2.54 cm
• 1 foot = 12 inches
• 1 mile = 5280 feet

Weight

• 1 kg = 1000 g
• 1 kg = 2.2 pounds
• 1 pound = 16 ounces

Volume

• 1 gallon = 4 quarts
• 1 quart = 2 pints
• 1 pint = 2 cups
• 1 cup = 8 ounces
• 1 quart = 0.946 liters
• 1 liter = 1000 ml

Time

• 1 year = 365 days (unless it is a leap year)
• 1 day = 24 hours
• 1 hour = 60 minutes
• 1 minute = 60 seconds

Temperature

• Fahrenheit = 9/5 Celsius + 32
• Celsius = (Fahrenheit - 32) * 5/9
