Study Group Questions

As individuals you are expected to read the chapter using the reading guide for guidance on where and how much to focus your time.  You should also use the "Additional Study Materials" to supplement this reading with videos, activities, etc.

Once that is completed, you should "meet" with your study group to discuss these materials.  Find places where group members have questions and see if, working together, you can figure out solutions.  It is likely that even after doing this your group will have questions that you feel you cannot adequately answer as a team.  At this point, we would ask you to draft and submit a study question.

The question(s) you submit should be specific and directed.  As much as possible, they should be "questions" and not "things I don't understand."  As much as possible, they should attempt to convey where the problem lies.

  • Good – Can you give a different explanation of the difference between a truncation error and an overflow error?
  • Good – How do you calculate the memory size of a given photo?
  • Poor – Our team doesn't understand the difference between GIF and JPG
  • Poor – Any question copied directly from the study guide

As a suggestion, if your study group is struggling with a specific question from the study guide you should write some new and specific question(s) whose answers will help you create an answer for the study guide question.

If your team chooses to submit questions, you should use the following Google Form:

Submit your Questions

We will read all questions submitted by the appropriate deadline.  Depending on the nature of your questions, we will prepare to either answer them at the appropriate class meetup (see below) or create some additional materials (videos, readings, etc.) to help you with the issues.
