Exam 2 Review Information
Exam 2 will be held on Friday, February 21st in class. It will be closed
book and course notes. However, you will be allowed to bring a single,
ONE-SIDED sheet of paper (8.5" x 11") with notes of your creation.
Below are the highlights of each section:
Section 3.1
Topics: Definitions of sets, set operations (union, intersection,
complement, cross product), power set, standard sets (N,R, etc).
Skills:
- Describe a set by listing elements and by a characteristic property.
- Prove that one set is a subset of another
- Find the power set of a set
- Generate the set produced through the standard binary and unary set
operators.
- Draw a Venn diagram representing several sets
Section 4.1
- Definition of a binary relation
- Operations on binary relations on a set include

and antisymmetry.
