 the interviewer asked Maurice Sendak, then age eighty-three, how
 long he could work in one stretch.  The illustrator said that two
 hours was a long stretch for him.

 I'm not quite eighty-three, but I agree with every sentence in
 Sendak's answer.  I could do worse than be as productive and as
 cantankerous for as long as he was.
