• Steps for obtaining a printout to turn in for PostLab #14

Make sure your program is named Assign14 and is stored in a file called assign14.adb Go to WRT 112 or 339 or ITTC 335 the rest of this procedure can only be done from those labs. Open an MSDOS command window by selecting the Start menu, typing cmd into the dialog box, and clicking on cmd.exe. Change your working drive to the one containing your program.  This is usually R: or your USB drive letter.  To make this change, type the drive letter followed by a colon. Use the cd command to make the directory containing your program the current working directory. Type the command p:\CS-1520-Ada\lab14\submit Watch the messages for possible errors. You will be asked whether or not you want to print out your results. You can see your results by checking the files created in your working directory.  Type in Yes to obtain a printout. Please conserve paper by only printing when you are satisfied with your work. Pick up your printout and staple the pages in the order printed. If you have problems, double check that you did all of the above steps correctly. If you still have problems, contact me.

• GNAT Ada Compiler - download your own copy of the free GPL 20124edition for numerous operating systems.
  Here are detailed instructions for Windows users :

  • Click on GNAT_GPL Download button. 
  • Select Free Software or Academic Development
  • Fill in your e-mail address and click Build Your Download Package
  • Select your platform (x86-windows) and the 2014 version
  • Click on GNAT Ada GPL 2014, then check the box for gnat-gpl-2014-windows-bin.exe  
  • Down at the bottom of the page, select the Bundle Format (I suggest zip)
  • Click on Download Selected Files  (the green  rectangle to the right of Bundle Format)  and save this file on your computer.
  • After the download is complete, you should have a zip file whose name starts with AdaCore-Download on your computer. 
  • This zip file is a compressed version of the GNAT compiler and tools.  You need to extract the files from this zip file.  To do so requires a program such as PowerArchiver (freeware) or 7-zip (freeware) or Winzip (commercial).   You probably already have such an extraction program on your computer - try right clicking on the zip file and select Extract All...
  • After running your extraction program you will have a folder called x86-windows.  Within that folder is a folder called adagpl-2014.  Within that folder is a folder called gnatgpl.  Within the folder gnatgpl is the executable file gnat-gpl-2013-i686-pc-mingw32-bin.exe.  Double click on this exe file to install  the GNAT compiler and an integrated development environment called GPS.  We will not be using GPS in this course.  Do not check the box labeled Install for all users.  Accept all the suggested file locations. 

• AdaGIDE - download your own copy (install GNAT before AdaGIDE). 
  • From the AdaGIDE home page, click on the link to take you to the sourceforge download site.  Download from the sourceforge site.
  • Set up your AdaGIDE settings to match that of the Wright Hall labs.  Here is a listing of the AdaGIDE settings used in the Wright Hall labs.
